J.B. Steel Achieves National Industry Certification

Tucson, AZ (September 21, 2009) — J.B. Steel, a Tucson based steel fabrication and erection business, has received the quality certification as a Certified Steel Erector from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC). J.B. Steel had previously received the fabrication certification for Standard Steel Building Structures.

J.B. Steel, located at 2850 E. Ganley Road, has been providing steel fabrication and erection for Southern Arizona’s building industry since 1994. It is one of Southern Arizona’s largest fabricators and erectors of structural and miscellaneous steel.

AISC sets the standards for the steel construction industry. The certification, which must be reviewed annually, includes confirmation by an independent auditor that the company has the personnel, knowledge, organization, equipment, experience, capability, procedures and commitment to safely erect the required quality work as a structural steel erector.

“Earning this additional certification means that J.B. Steel has successfully passed a rigorous evaluation of our entire process,” said Nelson Brown, president of the company. “This is recognition that our iron workers are qualified and certified to provide good quality work while at same time complying with all of the rules and regulations for safety,” he said.

J.B. Steel’s clients include Sundt Construction, T.L. Roof and Associates Construction, Chestnut Construction, Lloyd Construction, Triumph Builders, DPR Construction and Johnson Carlier. Projects they have worked on include the Ritz Carlton at Dove Mountain, the Peter and Paula Fassaes Cancer Clinic at University Medical Center North; the University of Arizona Highlands Parking Garage and College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture; numerous buildings located on Davis Monthan Air Force Base; Rillito Crossing; Empire High School; the Safeway at Broadway and Campbell; the Patrick K.
